Master Chief is a native of McLemoresville, Tennessee. He graduated from West Carroll High School in 1996 and entered the Navy in May, of the same year, completing Basic Instruction at Recruit Training Command and Radioman “A” School, Great Lakes, Illinois.
Master Chief Tummins’ sea assignments include USS UNDERWOOD (FFG 36), USS STOUT (DDG 55), USS INGRAHAM (FFG 61), MCM CREW DOMINANT [IN USS GLADIATOR (MCM 11), USS WARRIOR (MCM 10), and USS CHIEF (MCM 14)], USS CHAFEE (DDG 90), and USS MICHAEL MONSOOR (DDG 1001). Shore tours include Navy-Marine Corps Intranet Ford Island, Hawaii, Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Norfolk, Virginia, and Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island.
He currently serves as Command Master Chief for Destroyer Squadron Nine homeported in Everett, Washington supporting various destroyers assigned from across the Pacific area of responsibility.
He is a graduate of Hawaii Pacific University with an Associates of Supervisory Leadership, various communications schools, Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 144 Gold), and CMC/COB Course (Class 106). His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit commendations.
