Cmdr. Derek C. Jaskowiak, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering. He is also a 2004 graduate from the Naval Post Graduate School, earning a Master of Science in Systems Technology, Joint C4I.

Jaskowiak’s sea duty assignments include serving as first lieutenant and anti-submarine warfare officer on USS Roosevelt (DDG 80); reactor propulsion division officer aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75); department head tours as operations officer on USS Ford (FFG 54); and reactor training assistant on USS Nimitz (CVN 68).

Ashore, Jaskowiak served as Deputy N3 and Anti-submarine Warfare/Surface Warfare (ASW/SUW) Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI) at the Sea Combat Division of Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC); Director of Training/Director of Engineering Training at Afloat Training Group San Diego (ATGSD); Prospective Nuclear Engineering Officer (PNEO) Coordinator at Commander Naval Air Forces Atlantic (CNAL); and executive officer of USS Oakland (LCS 24) Blue Crew.

His current assignment is commanding officer of USS Oakland (LCS 24) Blue Crew.

Jaskowiak’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various campaign medals and unit awards.
