CDR Kevin Smith

Executive Officer, USS Omaha (LCS 12) Gold Crew

Cmdr. Kevin Smith is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Marquette University in 2006 with a degree in English and was commissioned through the Naval ROTC program. He later attended the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California where he studied Italian. 

His sea assignments include Assistant Electronics Material Officer and Auxiliaries Officer onboard USS Rushmore (LSD 47), Damage Control Assistant onboard USS Milius (DDG 69), Chief Engineer onboard USS Momsen (DDG 92), Materials and Future Plans Officer (N4/N5) with Amphibious Squadron FIVE and Auxiliaries Officer onboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). 

Ashore, he was the exchange officer representing the U.S. Navy at the Italian Naval Academy in Livorno, Italy. He was also the Site Director for Engineering Learning Site in San Diego. 

Smith is currently assigned as the Executive Officer for USS Omaha (LCS 12) Gold Crew. 

His awards and decorations include Navy Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (2 awards), along with various campaign, unit, and service awards.
