Commander Christopher J. Green, a native of Bountiful, Utah, enlisted in the United States Navy in February 2002 under the Nuclear Power Officer Commissioning Program while attending college.  He graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry in May 2003 and was commissioned as an Ensign in December 2003 after attending Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida. In January 2004, Commander Green reported for his 1st Division Officer tour onboard USS PAUL HAMILTON (DDG 60), where he served as the Electronic Warfare and Communications Officer.  He subsequently attended and graduated from The Officer Nuclear Power School and Prototype Training in Goose Creek, South Carolina. Following this training he served as the Reactor Electrical Officer in USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74). While onboard PAUL HAMILTON and JOHN C. STENNIS, he completed multiple deployments to 5th and 7th fleet AORs.

From 2008-2010, Commander Green served as the Prospective Nuclear Engineer Examination Coordinator and COMNAVAIRFOR Representative in Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.  After completing Department Head School, Commander Green served as the Weapons officer and then the Combat Systems Officer in USS SHOUP (DDG 86) While onboard SHOUP, he completed a 318-day deployment to 5th fleet AOR. In 2014 Commander Green reported to be the Reactor Training Assistant in USS NIMITZ (CVN 68) While onboard NIMITZ, successfully participated in the first ever Joint Strike Fighter Carrier Based operations and largest ever Non-Docking CVN availability.

Commander Green holds a Masters of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Navy Post Graduate School and completed his JPME I certification from Navy War College.  His most recent tour was as the Ballistic Missile Defense Officer, Director of Training and Executive Officer in Afloat Training Group Middle Pacific.

Commander Green’s personal awards include: The Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal (6 awards), The Army Commendation Medal, the Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various other unit and service awards.
