CDR Bryan P. Hart

Past Commanding Officer, USS Stethem (DDG 63).

CDR Hart is from San Diego, CA, and graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics.  After commissioning, he reported to USS BELLEAU WOOD (LHA 3) as Auxiliaries Division Officer and subsequently served as Fire Control Officer in USS OSCAR AUSTIN (DDG 79).  His tour was segued by an Individual Augmentee assignment as an Electronic Warfare Officer with the United States Army 84^th and 92^nd Engineer Combat Battalions (Heavy) in Iraq.

While ashore, CDR Hart graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Master of Professional Studies in Leadership, Education, and Development from the University of Maryland in 2008.  His following assignments were as 26^th Company Officer and Executive Assistant to the Commandant of Midshipmen at the Naval Academy.  During his tour at USNA, he also graduated with distinction from the Naval War College with a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies with a subspecialty in Irregular Warfare.

CDR Hart returned to sea and served as Engineer Officer in USS TRUXTUN (DDG 103) and on the staff of Commander, Destroyer Squadron THREE ONE (CDS 31) as Material Officer (N4).  From February 2015 through January 2017, he served as Commanding Officer in USS HURRICANE (PC 3), forward deployed to Bahrain.  His following assignments ashore were as Guided Missile Frigate Requirements Officer in the Surface Warfare Directorate on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV N96) and as a student at the National War College, earning a Master of Science in National Security Strategy in 2019.  Most recently, CDR Hart completed a tour as Executive Officer in USS STETHEM (DDG 63).

CDR Hart’s military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (6), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2), and various other personal, unit, and campaign awards.
