08 February 2022 A native of El Paso, Texas, Commander Chris Stone graduated the United States Naval Academy in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in General Science. He holds a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration and a Doctor of Philosophy in Leadership and Higher Education Administration from the University of Nebraska.

At sea, he served as an engineering division officer and assistant first lieutenant aboard USS Denver (LPD 9); force protection officer aboard USS Stockdale (DDG 106); combat systems officer and operations officer aboard USS New Orleans (LPD 18). 

Ashore, he served as a Naval ROTC instructor at University of Nebraska; African Maritime exercise planner Naval Forces Europe/Naval Forces Africa; and Maritime Warfare instructor Surface Warfare Schools Command.

Commander Stone’s awards include Navy Commendation Medal (6), Navy Achievement Medal (5) and numerous unit awards.
