CMDCM McCormick is a native of Cottage Grove, Ore. and raised throughout the world as an Army dependent He enlisted in the United States Navy in September of 1998. Following Basic Training in Great Lakes, Ill., he attended Seaman Apprenticeship and Training Division (ATD) School and reported to his first sea tour aboard USS Mount Hood (AE 29) as an undesignated Sailor. He would take part in Mount Hood’s final deployment before decommissioning. He later struck into the Religious Program Specialist (RP) rating aboard USS Rainier (AOE 7).
His sea and operational tours include, USS Mount Hood (AE 29) from 1998 to 1999, USS Rainier (AOE 7) from 1999 to 2002, 1st Marine Logistics Group from 2006 to 2009, Marine Special Operations Command and 1st Raider Battalion Detachment from 2009 to 2011, 1st Marine Division from 2011 to 2014, and the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit embarked aboard USS Boxer (LHD 4) from 2013 to 2014.
His shore assignments include, Naval Station Bremerton/Naval Base Kitsap from 2002 to 2004, Naval Submarine Support Center Bangor from 2004 to 2006; in Washington State, and Navy Region Southwest from 2014 to 2017, in San Diego.
CMDCM McCormick attained the rank of chief in 2009, senior chief in 2015, Command Senior Chief in 2017, and Command Master Chief in 2018.
His command senior enlisted leader assignments include, Command Senior and Master Chief of Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Crews 212 and 224 aboard USS Jackson (LCS 6) and USS Omaha (LCS 12) out of San Diego from 2018 to 2019, and Command Master Chief at Air Test and Evaluation Squadron NINE (VX 9) out of China Lake, Calif.
His personal decorations include, Meritorious Service Medal (two Awards), Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five Awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six Awards), and other various unit and campaign awards.
He is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 199 (Purple), the United States Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Academy Class 194 (Constantine), the CMC/COB Course Class 180, and the 2020 Executive Leadership Seminar. CMDCM McCormick holds a bachelor’s degree in management with a concentration in leadership from American Military University. Where he graduated with honors. He carries a designation of Certified Manager (CM) from James Madison University, a certification of Resiliency-Building Leader Professional Trainer (RBLP-T) from the Resiliency-Building Leadership Program, and a certification in Lean Six Sigma as a Black Belt.
