A native of West Lafayette, Indiana, Commander Robb graduated with distinction from the United States Naval Academy in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science.  He holds Master of Arts degrees in National Security Studies with honors from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, and with distinction from the U.S. Naval War College.  He also attended the Joint Forces Staff College.

Robb’s operational assignments have been in guided missile destroyers.  He served as Communications Officer and Navigator in USS Halsey (DDG 97); Operations Officer in USS Kidd (DDG 100); and Operations Officer (N3) for Commander, Destroyer Squadron 7 forward deployed in Singapore.

In April 2022, he assumed command of USS Spruance (DDG 111) in the South China Sea following a tour as the ship’s Executive Officer. 

Previous staff assignments include Liaison to the U.S. House of Representatives in the Navy’s Office of Legislative Affairs; Tomahawk Missile and Surface Strike section head in the Navy Staff’s Surface Warfare Division (OPNAV N96); and Speechwriter for the Chief of Naval Operations.

Robb received the Navy League’s Stephen Decatur Award for Operational Competence, Junior Shiphandler of the Year Award, War College President’s Honor Graduate Award, and Indianapolis Colts Horseshoe Hero Award.  He served as an elected member of the Surface Navy Association national board of directors and co-authored Naval Officer’s Guide to the Pentagon (U.S. Naval Institute Press).  His contributions were recognized by the Indiana General Assembly in a 2022 Senate Concurrent Resolution.
