A native of Rockville, Maryland, Commander Matthew “Matt” Todd graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2006 with a degree in Political Science and was commissioned through the NROTC program.
His career as a Surface Warfare Officer includes assignments as Weapons Officer and Force Protection Officer aboard USS GUNSTON HALL (LSD 41), as Electrical Officer aboard USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71), and as Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer aboard USS PINCKNEY (DDG 91).
Ashore, Commander Todd managed the Navy’s support of the Personnel Exchange (PEP) and Afghanistan-Pakistan (AFPAK) Hands programs at OPNAV N13F. He fulfilled his Integrated Air and Missile Defense Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI) production tour as the Combat Systems Director at Afloat Training Group San Diego.
Commander Todd holds a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College where he graduated with distinction in 2021.
His awards include the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and various unit and service awards.
