CDR Kevin K. McClellan is a native of Hillsdale, Michigan. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1995 and received his commission in 2005 through the Seaman-to-Admiral 21 program.  He received a B.S. in Geography from Jacksonville University in 2005 and a M.A in Homeland Defense and Security from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in 2009.

At sea assignments include: Operations Specialist in USS LASALLE (AGF 3) and in USS BENFOLD (DDG 65), Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer in USS SIMPSON (FFG 56), Fire Control Officer in USS LASSEN (DDG 82), Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer in USS McCAMPBELL (DDG 85), and Executive Officer in USS PRINCETON (CG 59) and USS O’KANE (DDG 77). 

Shore assignments include: Air Defense instructor at the Royal Navy’s Maritime Warfare School as a participant in the Personnel Exchange Program, Anti-Submarine Warfare / Anti-Surface Warfare (ASW/SUW) Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI) where he established the N5 and N8 directorates at Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center, Sea Combat Division, and assistant to the Director Commander’s Action Group for Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet.

Personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), and various campaign, expeditionary and unit awards.
