CDR Guillermo “Jerry” Howell

Past Executive Officer, USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19)

23 May 2022 Commander Guillermo “Jerry” Howell is a native of Brooklyn, New York. He is an alumnus of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in accounting and earned his commission through the Navy Reserve Officer Training Program in 2007.  He also attended Naval Post Graduate School where he earned his Master of Business Administration. 

CDR Howell’s sea duty assignments include USS CARNEY (DDG 64) where he served as Electrical Officer and Auxiliaries Officer, completing a Fifth Fleet deployment as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.  He then served as the Boat Detachment Officer in Charge at Mobile Expeditionary Squadron 2 (MESRON 2), where he completed a deployment in support Operation Iraqi Freedom.  After completing Department Head School, he served as Chief Engineer onboard USS MITSCHER (DDG 57) and Damage Control Assistant onboard the USS Dwight D Eisenhower (CVN 69).

His assignments ashore include Training Program Coordinator at Naval Education and Training Command and Littoral Combat Ship Team Lead at Engineering Assessment Atlantic, Commander, Naval Surface Forces Atlantic. 

CDR Howell is currently assigned as Executive Officer onboard, USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC 19) in Yokosuka, Japan. 

CDR Howell’s personal decorations include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five); Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal’s (three); Coast Guard Achievement Medal (one), and various other personal and unit awards.
