A native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Capt. Marc Crawford graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1997 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Crawford then attended Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida and earned his commission in the same year.
Crawford’s sea duty assignments include first lieutenant aboard USS De Wert (FFG 45); fire control officer aboard USS Gettysburg (CG 64); operations officer and combat systems officer aboard USS Roosevelt (DDG 80); and executive officer and commanding officer aboard USS Gridley (DDG 101).
Ashore, Crawford served as current surface operations officer at U.S. Pacific Fleet Headquarters; ballistic missile defense operations officer at Navy Air and Missile Defense Command; force manning officer at Commander, Naval Surface Force Pacific (CNSP); Assistant Chief of Staff for C5I (N6) CNSP; Assistant Chief of Staff for Training and Readiness (N7); special assistant to Commander, Naval Surface Force; and as commodore, Surface Division Eleven.
He also earned a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Hawaii and a Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.
Crawford is currently serving as Commodore, Littoral Combat Ship Squadron One.
His personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (six awards), Shiphandler of the Year, Tactician of the Year, the Arleigh Burke Leadership Award, and other personal, unit and campaign awards.
