Past Executive Officer, USS Gabrielle Giffords (LCS 10) BLUE CREW

01 August 2022 Cmdr. Matt Harris, originally of Houston, Texas, graduated from the U.S Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Economics, and a Master’s of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.

At sea, Harris served as first division and boarding officer aboard USS Shreveport (LPD 12), main propulsion division officer aboard USS Ashland (LSD 48), detachment assistance officer in charge and operations officer with Riverine Squadron Two and II Marine Expeditionary Force, combat systems officer and operations officer with Littoral Combat Ship crew 101 aboard USS Freedom (LCS 1) and USS Fort Worth (LCS 3).

Ashore, Harris served as operations officer for Navy Expeditionary Combat Command’s Expeditionary Training Group, now known as Navy Expeditionary Warfighting Development Center, deputy operations officer for Navy Expeditionary Forces Europe-Africa, and as a maritime warfare instructor at Surface Warfare Schools Command.

Harris is authorized to wear the Surface Warfare Officer and Small Craft insignia, and various unit and campaign awards.
