CMDCM(SW/IDW/EXW) Jeanette M. Hafer hails from Chicago, Illinois. In March 1998, she reported for active duty at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes Illinois. After completing boot camp, Master Chief Hafer reported to Radioman ‘A’ School at Naval Technical Training Center in Great Lakes, Illinois.

In October of 1998, she reported to Commander Naval Forces Korea in Seoul, Korea Naval as a Radioman. In October 2000, she reported to USS RAINIER (AOE-7) Bremerton, Washington where she worked as a work-center supervisor. In June of 2003, she reported to the Center for Information Dominance (CID) in Norfolk, Virginia where she served as an instructor andcourse manager. While stationed there in 2006 Master Chief Hafer was advanced to Chief Petty Officer.

In October of 2006, she reported to USS EMORY S LAND (AS-39) as the Information Systems Division Leading Chief Petty Officer. In October of 2008, she reported to Naval Special Warfare Development Group (NSWDG) as the N63 Division Leading Chief Petty Officer. While stationed there in 2009 Master Chief Hafer was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer.

In October of 2011 she reported to EODMU FIVE located on Guam as the N2/N6 Department Leading Chief Petty Officer. In October of 2014 she reported to Expeditionary Strike Group Seven located on Okinawa, Japan as the Senior Enlisted Leader while assigned there in May of 2015, she was promoted to Master Chief. In April of 2016 she reported to Navy Personnel Command in Millington, Tennessee, serving as the IT rating lead detailer and was selected for the Command Master Chief program. 

In February of 2018 she reported to THE USS ARLEIGH BURKE (DDG 51), Norfolk VA as their Command Master Chief. In August of 2020 she reported to Naval Leadership and Ethics Center, Newport RI as a CMDCM/COB Course Facilitator. In August of 2022 she reported to COMDESRON 23, San Diego CA as their Command Master Chief. 

CMDCM Hafer's awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (threeawards), Joint Service Commendation, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation (five awards), Joint Service Achievement (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement (four awards), and other various unit and service awards
