Command Master Chief Mark L. Christman hails from St. Louis, Missouri. He enlisted in the Navy in August 1996, attending Basic Training at Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois. He attended Advance Electronics Computer Field Tech Core School and Fire Controlman, “A” school.
His sea duty assignments include USS O’Kane (DDG 77) deploying in support of IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM; USS Hopper (DDG 70) deploying in support of ENDURING FREEDOM; Littoral Combat Ship Surface Warfare Detachment 4; and Littoral Combat Ship Crew 104, commissioning USS Milwaukee (LCS 5).
Christman’s shore tours include the U.S. Navy Ceremonial Honor Guard Washington D.C.; Navy Information Operations Command in Kunia, Hawaii; and Afloat Training Group San Diego, Commander Littoral Combat Ship Squadron One. He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 177 Blue) and a graduate of 136
th
Command Master Chief course.
His current assignment is Command Master Chief, Surface Development Group One (SURFDEVGRU 1)
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), the Good Conduct Medal (eight awards), as well as various unit awards, campaign and service decorations.
