Past Command Senior Chief, USS Oakland (LCS 24) Gold Crew

18 October 2022 Command Senior Chief Gilberto Silvabecerra is a native of Orange, Calif. and raised in Riverside, Calif. He enlisted in the Navy in May 2000 and attended basic training in Great Lakes, Ill. Silvabecerra attended Aviation Electrician’s Mate “A” School. He is a graduate of the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course, Senior Enlisted Academy (class 216), Anti-Terrorism Training Supervisor, Small Arms Marksmanship Instructor, Crew Served Weapons Instructor courses and Command Fitness Leader. He is a qualified Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Expeditionary Warfare Specialist, and Enlisted Small Craft Insignia. 

Silvabecerra’s air duty assignments include Naval Strike Fighter Wing Detachment Fallon, Nevada; Strike Fighter Squadron 97 embarked aboard USS Nimitz (CVN 68), deploying to the Middle East in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. While aboard NIMITZ, he completed his on-the-job requirements for Master-At-Arms (MA) and was approved for lateral conversion to MA. 

His sea tours include Mobile Security Squadron THREE (MSS-3); USS Higgins (DDG 76); Coastal Riverine Squadron THREE (CRS-3); Naval Security Forces Bahrain; and USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26). Ashore he served with Commander, Navy Region Southwest and Naval Base San Diego Security Department. 

CMDCS Silvabecerra currently serves as the Command Senior Chief for USS Oakland (LCS 24) Gold crew. 

His personal awards include the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (eight awards), and numerous unit and campaign awards.
