Cmdr. Terence Coleman is a native of and was raised in San Antonio, TX. He spent a year at the Naval Academy Prep School before receiving an appointment to the United States Naval Academy where he graduated with a bachelor of science in economics in 2002.
His initial sea duty assignments were in Norfolk, VA onboard USS Saipan (LHA 2) where he served as electrical officer and main propulsion division officer and USS Wasp (LHD 1) where he served as the weapons officer and information systems officer. His first department head tour was aboard USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81) where he served as the chief engineer. His second department head tour was as an engineering assessor at Engineering Assessments Pacific in San Diego, CA. He also served as amphibious and littoral combat ship operations officer at Carrier Strike Group Fifteen (CSG-15) in Coronado, CA. His most recent sea duty assignment was as executive officer of USS Jackson (LCS 6) and USS Omaha (LCS 12) respectively. He currently serves as the executive officer for Engineering Assessments Pacific.
Coleman's tours ashore include protocol officer at United States Central Command, the chief staff officer and director of training for Afloat Training Group, Pacific.
Coleman completed Phase I of his Joint Professional Military Education and earned a masters degree in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College in Newport, RI.
Coleman's awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation and Achievement Medals, and various unit and service awards.
