CDR Daniel A. Sledz

Past COMMANDING OFFICER, USS SAVANNAH (LCS 28) BLUE CREW

16 December 2022 Cmdr. Dan Sledz is a native of Long Island, NY. He graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer and Information Systems Technology in 2006, receiving his commission through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps program.

Following his commissioning and acceptance into the Immediate Graduate Education program, he reported for a year of study at the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, Calif., completing a Master of Science degree in Modeling, Virtual Environments, and Simulation.

At sea, Sledz has served aboard USS Boxer (LHD 4) as Automated Data Processing officer and Information Assurance Manager; USS Milius (DDG 69) as Navigator; as Weapons officer and Combat Systems officer aboard USS Higgins (DDG 76); and most recently, as executive officer of USS Savannah (LCS 28) Blue Crew.

Ashore, he served as an Anti-Submarine Warfare/Surface Warfare (ASW/SUW) Warfare Tactics Instructor and Requirements and Experimentation branch head at the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center’s Sea Combat division. He also served as Flag Aide to the Commander of the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command.

His current assignment is commanding officer of USS Savannah (LCS 28) Blue Crew. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and various unit and service awards.
