CDR Kevin Taylor is originally from San Diego, CA and raised in Virginia Beach, VA. He attended Virginia Tech as a member of the NROTC program and Corps of Cadets and was commissioned following graduation in May 2005.
CDR Taylor has served at sea aboard USS TORTUGA (LSD 46) as Auxiliaries Officer, USS FORT MCHENRY (LSD 43) as OE Division Officer, USS DONALD COOK (DDG 75) as Fire Control Officer, and USS CAPE ST. GEORGE (CG 71) as Weapons Officer, Combat Systems Officer and Executive Officer. During these assignments, he completed four deployments to the Western Pacific, Arabian Gulf, Mediterranean, Eastern Atlantic, and Caribbean.
Ashore CDR Taylor served as Compound Commander in Camp Bucca, Iraq, as an Assistant Professor of Naval Science at the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Unit, University of Oklahoma, in OPNAV N80 as Program and Budget Integration Action Officer for OPNAV N2N6 and Deputy Executive Assistant for Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Integration of Capabilities and Resources (OPNAV N8).
CDR Taylor’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), Combat Action Ribbon, and Iraqi Campaign Medal.
