Command Senior Chief John Shubert is a native of WaKeeney, Kan. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on August 22, 2005 and entered Basic Training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes. After completing Information Systems Technician “A” School, he reported to USNS Coronado (T-AGF-11). Shubert is qualified as an Enlisted Surface, Information, and Expeditionary Warfare Specialist. He is a graduate of Fort Hays State University with a Bachelor’s degree in general studies with an emphasis in information technology and networking. He is a Senior Enlisted Academy Class 222 honor graduate.
His sea duty assignments include USS Gridley (DDG 101), USS Rushmore (LSD 47), USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), and Combined Joint Special Operations Air Detachment – Arabian Peninsula, Balad, Iraq, in support of Operation New Dawn.
Shubert served ashore as an instructor at Information Warfare Training Center, San Diego, and Southwest Regional Maintenance Center as the engineering department’s Leading Chief Petty Officer and the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.
His awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
