A native of Trout Creek, Montana, LCDR Stephanie Benjamin graduated from the University of Washington in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps. She has earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Washington - Foster School of Business, and is currently completing the Naval War College Fleet Seminar Program for Joint Professional Military Education Phase I.

Her initial sea tour was aboard USS Cowpens (CG 63), forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan, where she served as Administrative Officer and Combat Electronics Division Officer. During her tour, she completed a hull swap to USS Antietam (CG 54) where she served as Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer completing multiple South China Sea patrols and multinational exercises including Talisman Sabre as part of the George Washington Carrier Strike Group. She went on to complete Advanced Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer trianing at Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Command and served as Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer aboard USS Shoup (DDG 86) in Everett, Washington.

LCDR Benjamin affiliated with the Selected Reserve in 2018. She completed a tour as Training Department Head with Military Sealift Command Expeditionary Port Unit 116 in Everett, Washington and is cross-assigned to Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center in San Diego, California. She reported for Active Duty Operational Support at Afloat Training Group Pacific Northwest in June 2022 where she serves as the Executive Officer.

LCDR Benjamin’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (multiple awards) and various unit, campaign, and service awards.
