Commander Brian Vieths enlisted in 1995 and served on USS BUFFALO (SSN 715) and on the staff of COMSUBPAC. He graduated in 2006 from the University of San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and commissioned via the Seaman to Admiral-21 Program. CDR Vieths also earned a Master’s degree in Leadership from Central Michigan University.

CDR Vieths’ sea duty assignments include MCM CREW IMPERVIOUS on USS AVENGER (MCM 1), USS CHIEF (MCM 14) as Auxiliaries Officer, Electrical Officer, and Damage Control Assistant, USS MUSTIN (DDG 89) as Damage Control Assistant, and USS HIGGINS (DDG 76) and USS SAN DIEGO (LPD 22) as Engineer Officer.

Ashore CDR Vieths has served on the staff of COMUSNAVCENT/C5F as Deputy Force Protection Officer, attended the United States Army Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, KS, and served as Diesel Project Officer and Senior Assessor at Engineering Assessments Pacific.

CDR Vieths’ personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards) and various campaign and service medals and ribbons.

He is currently serving aboard USS CHOSIN (CG65) as Executive Officer.
