Past Command Master Chief, USS Green Bay (LPD 20)

28 February 2023 Command Master Chief Willis is a native of Phoenix, AZ. He enlisted in the United States Navy in June 1997. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he completed Operations Specialist “A” school training, Virginia Beach, VA.

Fleet assignments include USS MITSCHER (DDG-57), Norfolk, VA; USS NICHOLAS (FFG-47), Norfolk, VA; USS CORONADO LCS CREW 204 (LCS-4), San Diego, CA; and USS HOWARD (DDG-83), Yokosuka, Japan.

Ashore, he served at SECNAV / AAUSN Staff’s, Washington, DC; Navy Reserve Center (NRC OKCY), Oklahoma City, OK; and Afloat Training Group Middle Pacific (ATG MIDPAC), Honolulu, HI.

Master Chief Willis is currently serving Command Master Chief of the USS GREEN BAY (LPD-20) home-ported in Sasebo, Japan. Additionally, Master Chief Willis is a graduate of the U.S Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer’s Academy (Class 185), U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 203), CMC/COB course (Class 22130), and earned his Afloat Training and Master Training Specialist designations.

His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6 awards), and various unit campaign awards.
