Master Chief Avinash Ramsingh is a native of Guyana, South America and graduated from Saunders and Trade and Technical High School in Yonkers, New York. He enlisted in the Navy in October 1994 as an undesignated seaman recruit. He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy and the Command Master Chief Course. Ramsigh graduated cum laude from Ashford University earning his bachelors degree in social and criminal justice.
His sea tours include the USS Lake Champlain (CG 57) and USS Elliot (DD 967) as deck supervisor. After deploying with USS Fletcher (DD 992), he reported to USS Reuben James (FFG 57) and served as the leading petty officer (LPO) for first division and operations department LPO. After promoting to chief petty officer, he served as the leading chief petty officer (LCPO) onboard USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93). He then returned to USS Lake Champlain as LCPO. Ramsingh has served as command master chief onboard USS Decatur (DDG 73), USS Somerset (LPD 25), Assault Craft Unit (ACU) Five, and USS Boxer (LHD 4).
Ashore, Master Chief Ramsingh served as an underway replenishment (UNREP) instructor at Fleet Training Center (FTC) and the regional individual augmentee (IA) coordinator at Commander, Navy Region Southwest (CNRSW).
Ramsingh’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (4), Navy Commendation Medal (3), Navy Achievement Medal (7), and various unit and campaign awards.
Ramsingh is currently serving as command master chief of Amphibious Squadron One.
