Commander Corey Millis enlisted in the Navy in November 1989 and served as a Machinist’s Mate and a Hull Maintenance Technician until receiving a commission via the Enlisted Commissioning Program.  He graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Security and Conflict Resolution. 

Afloat he served in the submarine tenders USS ORION (AS 18) and USS SIMON LAKE (AS 33) forward deployed to La Maddalena, Italy and in the torpedo retriever PORPOISE (TWR 823) homeported in San Diego, California.  Upon commissioning he served as Electronic Warfare Officer, Gunnery Officer, VBSS Boarding Officer, and Navigator in USS ROOSEVELT (DDG 80), homeported in Mayport, Florida.  As a department head, he served as Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer in USS RUSSELL (DDG 59) and Combat Systems Officer in USS HALSEY (DDG 97) both homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. 
 
His shore tours include a Personnel Exchange Program tour at the Italian Naval Academy, Flag Aide to the Deputy Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, and Future Operations planner for COMUSNAVEUR/COMUSNAVAF/COMSIXTHFLT.
 
CDR Millis holds a Master’s Degree in Defense and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College and is a graduate of the Maritime Advanced Warfighting School.
