Command Master Chief (AW/SW) Christopher Zeigler is a native of West Monroe, Louisiana, and graduated from Carroll High School in 1991. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September 1994 and completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois.
He completed Operations "A" School at Dam Neck, Virginia, and reported to USS Vicksburg (CG 69) in Mayport, Florida, as an Operations Specialist.
He reported to Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility Jacksonville, Florida, in 2000, where he served as Tactical Operations Control Room Supervisor and Tactical Watch Supervisor. Chris then reported to USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20) as a Watch Supervisor before volunteering for an urgent fill on USS Tornado (PC 14) in Little Creek, Virginia.
In 2003, Master Chief Zeigler reported to Patrol Coastal Crew F, and served as Operations Department Leading Chief Petty Officer (LCPO) and Officer of the Deck underway. He completed three 5th Fleet deployments on USS Chinook (PC 9), USS Typhoon (PC 5) and USS Whirlwind (PC 11), and was advanced to Chief Petty Officer in 2005.
Command Master Chief Zeigler reported to Navy Recruiting District New Orleans in 2007, where he served as a Nuclear Officer recruiter, and was selected as Nuclear Recruiter of the Year.
Master Chief then transferred to USS MICHAEL Murphy (DDG 112) in 2011, where he served as the Operations Department LCPO. While stationed aboard Michael Murphy, he was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer.
Master Chief next reported to Commander, Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 31 in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, in 2013. He served as Senior Enlisted Leader, Lead Operations Tactical Planner/Scheduler, and Tactical Action Officer in support of eight Aegis-Class destroyers. While at DESRON 31, Chris participated in exercises Rim of the Pacific 2014, Koa Kai 2014, Trilateral 2014, Fortune Guard 2014, and Northern Edge.
In September 2015, Master Chief was selected for the Command Master Chief program and reported aboard Strike Fighter Squadron 137, Lemoore, California, where he completed a 2015 Southern Seas deployment embarked on USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73), and a 2017-2018 Western Pacific deployment embarked on USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70).
In February 2018, Command Master Chief Zeigler reported to Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron (Blue Angels) leading the Team through two successful show seasons and the super hornet transition.
In October 2020 Master Chief Zeigler reported to USS George Washington (CVN 73) in Newport New Virginia leading the crew through an arduous refueling and complex overhaul (RCOH) period.
Master Chief Zeigler is an honor graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Command Master Chief Course in Newport, Rhode Island and Executive Leadership Symposium. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Remington College.
On January 2023, Master Chief Zeigler reported to Commander Carrier Strike Group NINE as Command Master Chief.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (3rd award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3rd award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6th award), and various unit and campaign awards
