Command Master Chief Olds is a native of St. Louis, Missouri and calls Seattle, Washington home. He entered active naval service in December 1990 and reported to Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Florida. Upon completion of recruit training he reported to Nuclear Field “A” School, entering the Machinist Mate training pipeline.
Master Chief Olds’ initial sea tour was onboard USS HAWKBILL (SSN 666) in Pearl Harbor, HI. He completed subsequent sea tours on USS ALASKA (SSBN-732)(BLUE), USS ALABAMA (SSBN-731)(BLUE), and USS HENRY M. JACKSON (SSBN-730)(BLUE) out of Bangor, WA.
He completed shore tours at Naval Intermediate Maintenance Facility Bangor as Project Coordinator and at the United States Naval Academy serving as a Company Senior Enlisted Leader and Brigade Master Chief.
Master Chief Olds was selected to the Command Master Chief program in 2013 and has enjoyed successful tours onboard USS GRAVELY (DDG-107), Naval Support Activity Souda Bay, USS MAKIN ISLAND (LHD-8), and Southwest Regional Maintenance Center. He assumed duties as Command Master Chief for USS MOBILE BAY (CG-53) in December of 2022.
Master Chief Olds holds a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering Technology and is a graduate of the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 175, Command Master Chief Course, and Command Senior Enlisted Leader Executive Leadership Symposium.
Master Chief Olds is authorized to wear the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Submarine Warfare Enlisted, and Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist insignias. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 awards) and numerous campaign and unit awards
