Cmdr. Nellie Wang, a native of San Francisco, Calif. and raised in Seoul, South Korea, graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. She was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps program in June 2006.
Wang’s sea assignments include USS Essex (LHD 2) as Repair Division Officer; USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108) as Fire Control Officer; USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52) as Chief Engineer; and Executive Officer; USS Charleston (LCS 18) Blue Crew.
Ashore, she served as Force Training Action Officer (N7) at Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet; Legal Operations Directorate for Combined Joint Interagency Task Force 435; and Training Department Head at Littoral Combat Ship Squadron ONE.
Wang’s personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards).
