Commander Michael Ferrell, a native of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri is a 2009 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. Additionally, he holds a master's degree in Business Administration from Villanova University.
His sea tours include serving as main propulsion officer aboard USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6); as Navigator and Legal Officer aboard USS New Orleans (LPD 18). In 2010, Ferrell also served in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. as an individual augmenter to the Joint Detainee Operations Center.
Additional sea tours include serving as Combat Systems Officer officer aboard USS Jackson (LCS 6); and as Operations Officer aboard USS Omaha (LCS 12). His following assignment was as Deputy Director of Future Operations and Scheduling Officer for Expeditionary Strike Group THREE (ESG 3).
His shore tours include Naval Science Instructor at the University of Pennsylvania and Villanova University.
He currently serves as the Executive Officer of USS Kansas City (LCS 22).
His awards include the, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, and various other personal, unit and service awards.
