CMDCM(SW) Jay’e Jerrod’e Bell is a native of Augusta, GA. He enlisted in the Navy in Dec 1994 and reported to Seamanship ATD.

During his first tour as a Deck Seaman, he served onboard the USS SAMUEL B. ROBERTS FFG-58 in Norfolk, VA. He did two deployments in Deck Department before cross-rating to GMSN. He then reported to Naval/Marine Corps Reserve Center Augusta, GA where he provided small arms training and administrative support to Reserve assets. During this tour, he advanced to Third Class Petty Officer.

He then served on the USS STARK FFG-31, serving as a 3” technician, completing another deployment before she was decommissioned out of Mayport, FL. CMDCM Bell then reported to Naval Station Mayport Base Weapons Department during which he advanced to Second Class Petty Officer.

As a Second Class CMDCM Bell reported to GM “A” School and Vertical Launch Systems “C” School where he picked up First Class Petty Officer. In 2003, he reported to USS LAKE-ERIE CG-70 where he supported the first Ballistic Defense Missions. There he earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Combat Systems Officer Of The Watch and Combat Systems Coordinator qualifications and was selected, initiated and accepted into the Chief Petty Officers Mess.

CMDCM Bell immediately reported to 5’ 54 “C” School in San Diego, CA and returned to sea in 2007 onboard the USS PORT ROYAL CG-73 and served as Leading Chief Petty Officer of “Almighty” CG Division. During this four-year tenure, he was promoted to Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer.

In 2011, he completed Advanced Vertical Launch Systems Technician school in Port Hueneme, CA and reported to Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard as a Vertical Launch Systems support technician and Ships Maintenance Supervisor for USS HOPPER DDG-70, USS CHOSIN CG-65 and USS CHUNG-HOON DDG-93. During this tour he advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer and served temporarily as acting CMC for the Shipyard.

CMDCM Bell then reported to Maintenance and Material Management Coordinator School in San Diego CA and USS WILLIAM P. LAWRENCE DDG-110 as 3MC. During this tour he was promoted to Master Chief Gunners Mate. He subsequently was selected to Command Master Chief before graduating from the Senior Enlisted Academy and Command Leadership School in 2017.

He then served as Command Master Chief of the USS O'KANE DDG-77 from 2017-2020 earning the Secretary Of Defense Maintenance Award for 2019 before being selected as Command Master Chief of the Almighty USS GETTYSBURG CG-64.

CMDCM Bell successfully overseen USS GETTYSBURG’s unprecedented reactivation and return to NAVAL STATION NORFOLK as a ship of the line after a seven-year SLEP at BAE Shipyard. His vast and varied experience coupled with consistent success in the most challenging assignments resulted in him being selected by the ATLANTIC FORCE MASTERCHIEF as the first Command Master Chief of DESRON 28. There he temporality filled a gapped CMC Billet on a deployed USS GRAVELY DDG-107 before doing an extended deployment on the USS HARRY S. TRUMAN CVN-75.

He was subsequently selected the serve with top tier warfighters as the COMMANDER NAVAL SURFACE GROUP MIDDLE PACIFIC Command Master Chief.

CMDCM Bell has no individual awards but has been recognized through team efforts throughout his career.
