Captain Sean Lewis is a native of Queens, NY; he earned his commission via the NROTC program at the State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with honors and a USCG 3rd Assistant Engineer’s License.
His sea tour assignments include Gunnery Officer onboard USS BARRY (DDG 52), Auxiliaries Officer USS BATAAN (LHD 5), Chief Engineer onboard USS PICKNEY (DDG 91) and USS CHOSIN (CG 65), and as the Executive and Commanding Officer USS STERETT (DDG 104).
Captain Lewis’s shore tours include the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA where he earned a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Flag Aide to Naval Surface Forces Pacific, COMPACFLT N9 program lead for NIFC & CISRT and the Joint Staff J-7 Division Chief for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff’s Exercise Program.
He reported to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) SEVEN in September 2022 as Deputy Commodore and assumed command in July 2023.
His awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Navy Meritorious Service Medals, Joint and Navy / Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals in addition to various campaign and unit awards.
