Command Senior Chief Julius C. Green, a native of Alexandria, LA, enlisted in the United States Navy in 2006 and subsequently graduated recruit training at Navy Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois. He followed Recruit Training with the completion of Postal Clerk Apprentice School in Ft. Jackson, South Carolina.
His first assignment was as a Postal Clerk Seaman Recruit with Fleet Mail Center (FMC), Yokohama, Japan. In 2008, he was promoted to Postal Clerk Petty Officer Third Class through the Navy Wide Advancement Examination. After completing a two-year tour, he received orders to Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center San Diego (ECRC), and subsequently reported in September 2008. During his tour with ECRC, he completed an 8-month Individual Augmentee to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
In August 2009, he reported to USS New Orleans (LPD-18), then homeported in San Diego, California, as a Postal Clerk Third Class. He completed a SOUTHPAC was advances to Petty Officer Second Class in 2010. In May 2011, he reported to Naval Special Warfare Center in Coronado, Coronado for his shore duty assignment. In 2014, he detached from NAVSPECWARCEN and reported aboard USS AMERICA (LHA-6), homeported at San Diego, California, serving as the S8 Division Assistant Leading Petty Officer. During his tour aboard LHA-6, she completed a sail around cruise, commissioning, and was ultimately promoted to Petty Officer First Class.
In June 2015, he detached LHA-6 and reported to USS Russell (DDG-59) as S1 Leading Petty Officer based in San Diego, California. During his tour, he completed one WESTPAC deployment and was promoted to Chief Petty Officer. After his tour onboard DDG-59, he received orders to USS Spruance (DDG-111) in San Diego, California. In November 2017, he reported as the S1 Leading Chief Petty Officer to USS Spruance (DDG-111), where he completed a WESTPAC deployment. In November 2019, he departed DDG-111 and reported to Naval Leadership and Ethics Command in San Diego, California. During his tour, he was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer. In December 2021, he transferred to the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70).
After briefly serving onboard the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) as the S8 LCPO, he was selected to serve as Command Senior Chief of PCU JOHN L. CANLEY (ESB 6) Blue MilCrew, San Diego, California. He assumed his current position as Command Senior Chief, Blue MilCrew, May 2023.
Command Senior Chief Green’s’ personal awards include the Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal (eight awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and numerous unit and campaign awards. He is qualified to wear Enlisted Surface Warfare and the Enlisted Aviation Warfare. He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 239 (Red) and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat course. He holds a Six Sigma Black Belt from Villanova, MBA in Organizational Leadership, Executive Certificate in Strategic Leadership, and a Doctorate in Business Administration.
