Command Senior Chief Maritza A. Mejia is a native of Dallas, Texas. A graduate of Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Magnet Center in Dallas, Texas, Mejia enlisted in the U.S. Navy and attended recruit basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois in August 2005. Upon completing boot camp Mejia reported to Seaman ATD school, also in Great Lakes.

Her assignments as an Undesignated Seaman include Navy Cargo Handling Battalion One (NCHB-1) located in Williamsburg, Virginia and Cargo Transportation Battalion One in Al Asad, Iraq.

In April 2007, she converted to the Master-at-Arms (MA) rating and graduated MA “A” school in May 2007 in Dam Neck, Virginia. Her assignments as a MA includes, Naval Air Station Sigonella, Italy, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Coastal Riverine Group TWO Detachment Bahrain, Strategic Weapons Facility Atlantic Kings Bay, Naval Support Activity Souda Bay, Crete, and Naval Air Station Whiting Field Milton, Florida. Her previous command was as Security Department Leading Chief Petty Officer at Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan.

Mejia is a graduate of Class 240 Red from the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy and a graduate of the Command Master Chief Course, May 2023. Additionally, she has an Associate in Science in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College and is pursuing her Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences from American Military University.

Mejia’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Expeditionary Warfare, Nuclear Weapons Security insignia, and various campaign and service awards.
