CDR Ludwig Mann III

Commanding Officer, PCU Kingsville (LCS 36)

22 January 2024 CDR Mann is a New Jersey native who enlisted in March of 1997 as a Nuclear Machinist’s Mate. In 2005, he earned his commission through the Seaman to Admiral-21 program.

Afloat, he served aboard Submarine NR-1 and USS Annapolis (SSN 760) as a nuclear Machinist’s Mate. He served as a Weapons and Engineering division officer in USS Halsey (DDG 97) and USS Doyle (FFG 39).  He completed Chief Engineer tours aboard USS Shoup (DDG 86) and commissioned USS Montgomery (LCS 8).  He served as Executive Officer aboard USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and USS Port Royal (CG 73).  USS Kingsville (LCS 36) is Commander Mann’s third assignment to a ship being placed into commission. 

Ashore, Commander Mann served as an aide for the Civilian Deputy to the Commander at US SOUTHERN COMMAND. Upon completion of his department head tours, he supervised development of Littoral Combat Ship engineering training systems as Officer in Charge for LCS engineering at SWOS Learning Site, San Diego.
