Master Chief Chris Armantrout is a native of Bakersfield, California, and reported to Recruit Training Command (RTC), Great Lakes, Illinois, in February 1998. He began his career after completing Basic Enlisted Submarine School and Electronics Technician Navigation “A” School in Groton, Connecticut. He was selected to Chief Petty Officer in 2010, and completed the Command Master Chief (CMC) program in 2020.
His tours include USS Rhode Island (SSBN 740), Deep Submergence Unit Det. Unmanned Vehicles, Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle Mystic (DSRV-2), Undersea Research and Development attached to USS Jimmy Carter (SSN 23), BUPERS SDC Point Mugu, Commander Submarine Force Atlantic, CMC of Electronic Attack Squadron One Four Two (VAQ-142) deployed on USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) and USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78). He currently serves as CMC of Naval Beach Unit SEVEN (NBU-7), homeported in Sasebo Japan.
He completed multiple deployments in support of national security to include Western Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic, Five Ballistic Missile (SSBN) Patrols, and a United States Central Command Individual Augmentee (IA) deployment.
Master Chief Armantrout is a graduate of the Naval Leadership and Ethics Center Command Master Chief & Chief of the Boat Course, graduate of the Naval War College Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 202 Red), and holds an Associate of Science Degree in Electronics. He has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6 awards), and various other personal and unit awards.
