Command Senior Chief McHargue is a native of Stony Point, North Carolina and a Class of 2008 graduate of Alexander Central High School in Taylorsville, North Carolina. She entered the Navy through the Delayed Entry Program and arrived for basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL in June 2009.
 

Following Recruit Training and Aviation Structural Mechanic (AM) “A” School, she reported to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light Four Nine (HSL-49) in San Diego, CA where she served as a Collateral Duty Inspector, Air Detachment Airframes Lead, and Safe for Flight Maintenance Controller. Her follow on tours include Recruit Training Command where she served as a Recruit Division Commander, Leading Chief Petty Officer, and Operations Chief Petty Officer as well as Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron Seven Eight (HSM-78) where she served as a Safe for Flight Maintenance Controller and Combat Element/Air Department Leading Chief Petty Officer. During her career she has completed detachments/deployments onboard USS Bunker Hill (CG-52), USS Cowpens (CG-63), USS Halsey (DDG-97), USS Momsen (DDG-92), USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), and USS Princeton (CG-59). She was selected and laterally converted to Command Senior Chief in 2023 and checked on board the USS Fort Worth (LCS 3), San Diego, CA in July of 2023. 

She is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 253, Gold Team) and Command Leadership School (Class 23-100). Her personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), Volunteer Service Medal, and various other unit and campaign awards. She is authorized to wear the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist breast insignia.
