Command Senior Chief Sambe is a native of Senegal, West Africa. He immigrated to the United States as a legal resident in 1998 and joined the U.S. Navy in 1999. He attended Recruit Training Command and Basic Hospital Corps School in Great Lakes, Illinois. After graduating from HM “A” School, HR Sambe was assigned to Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton as a Projected Student Input (PSI) awaiting Field Medical Service School (FMSS) class. After graduating from FMSS as a Field Medical Technician (HM-8404/L03A), HA Sambe transferred to U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa, Japan as General Duty Corpsman supporting Marines at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma. While there, he was advanced to Petty Officer Third Class.
 
HM3 Sambe reported to Naval School of Health Sciences (NSHS) Portsmouth, Virginia in June 2002 to attend Advanced Medical Laboratory Technician School. In July 2003, he graduated with honors and obtained a certificate of Medical Laboratory Technology and the Navy Enlisted Classification Code (NEC) HM8506/L31A: Advanced Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT-C). During this tour, he was advanced to Petty Officer Second Class. While in school, he also obtained his U.S. citizenship.

In July 2003, HM2 Sambe transferred and served as Laboratory Technician at the National Naval Medical Center (NNMC) Bethesda as Leading Petty Officer (LPO) Microbiology and subsequently Clinical Pathology Departments.In March 2007, HM2 Sambe transferred to 2d Medical Battalion, 2d Marine Logistics Group (2d MLG) where he was advanced to Petty Officer First Class. While there, he served as Training Chief and Leading Petty Officer of Charlie Surgical Company. He also deployed to Fallujah in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) in 2007-2008 and served as the Ancillary and Surgical Services Chief. He also served as the Battalion Security Manager and Command Fitness Leader. During this tour he was selected and advanced to Chief Petty Officer.

In March 2010, HMC Sambe reported to Site Support Staff Inspector-Instructor, Washington, DC, Marine Forces Reserve, as the Senior Medical Department Representative (SMDR) in charge of training and readiness of active duty and reserve personnel for five Marine Corps units; deployed units ISO Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF).

In April 2014, Chief Sambe transferred to Navy Medicine Training Support Center, San Antonio, Texas. He served as the Leading Chief Petty Officer, Navy Service Lead, and instructor for the Army/Navy Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) and Histopathology Technician “C” School Programs. While there, he earned the NEC 805A (Instructor) and qualified Master Training Specialist (NEC 8MTS).

In June 2017, HMC Sambe reported to 3d Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force Pacific, where he was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer. He served as Senior Enlisted Leader (SEL), 12th Marine Regiment, planned and executed multiple deployments in support of naval, combined, and joint operations in the U.S. Indo-Pacific AOR.

In October 2020, HMCS Sambe reported to Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) Bethesda, where he served as the Command Climate Specialist and SEL for Headquarters NMRTC Bethesda after serving as SEL for Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC)’s Directorate for Education, Training & Research. He also completed a successful deployment in support of Continuing Promise 2022 (CP22) onboard USNS COMFORT as SEL for the Directorate of Nursing Services. He was selected to the Command Senior Enlisted (CSEL) program in February 2023 and received orders to Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Crew 220, USS OAKLAND (LCS 24) BLUE.

He is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 198 Gray) and CMC/COB Course (23090). He has earned Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees from University of Maryland Global Campus. His personal awards include Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Silver Star), Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medals (2 gold stars), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, and various unit and service awards.
