Command Master Chief Ronmel Aleman is a native of San Pedro, El Salvador. In his earlier life, he spent his childhood in North Hollywood, CA and Providence, RI. In 1998, he enlisted in the Navy and completed basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois. He then completed Aviation Structural Mechanic (AMS) “A” School in Pensacola, Florida in 1999.
In April 1999, he reported to Aviation Intermediate Maintenance Department Sea Operational Detachment in Virginia Beach, Virginia. During this tour, he deployed aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) and USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67). His follow-on tour was Helicopter Combat Support Squadron (HC) 2 in Norfolk, where he deployed to Bahrain in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. In April 2006, he reported to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 26 and deployed aboard USNS Supply (T-AOE 6) and USS Nassau (LHA 4) in support of Operation Phoenix Express. In January 2010, he led a detachment aboard USS Bataan (LHD 5) as part of Joint Task Force in support of Operation Unified Response. His next tour was Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Headquarters in Pensacola, Florida followed by reporting aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) in October 2015, where he served as the IM-2 Leading Chief Petty Officer and Quality Assurance Supervisor for the Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department. He then detached and reported to Fleet Replacement Squadron Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 41, where he was selected for the Command Senior Chief program. In November of 2020, he reported to the USS Savannah (LCS 28) Blue Crew, from pre-commissioning to leading the crew to bringing her to life as a Plankowner and completing Sail-around to homeport San Diego, CA. For his follow-on tour, he reported to the USS Lake Erie (CG 70) in November of 2022. Following a two year Selected Restricted Availability (SRA), he led the crew through a successful completion of basic phase in preparation for advanced phase, integrated training and deployment.
His current assignment is Command Master Chief of USS Fitzgerald (DDG-62).
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and graduated from the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 209 Orange) and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat course (Class 21010).
His decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct (four awards), and various unit, campaign and service awards.
