CDR Brent Holloway

Past Executive Officer, USS Carl M. Levin (DDG 120)

14 September 2023 CDR Brent Holloway is a native Massachusetts. He graduated from Massachusetts Maritime Academy in 2006 earning a B.S. in Marine Transportation as well as his USCG Third Mate, Open Ocean, Unlimited Tonnage license. 

CDR Holloway’s Division Officer tours included USS PAUL HAMILTON (DDG 60) in Pearl Harbor as First Lieutenant followed by USS ASHLAND (LSD 48) in Little Creek as Auxiliaries Officer.  As a Department Head, CDR Holloway served as the Chief Engineer on both USS THE SULLIVANS (DDG 68) and USS NEW YORK (LPD 21) in Mayport, FL. Selected for Early Command, he served as Fleet-Up Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of USS DEVASTATOR (MCM 6), forward deployed in Manama, Bahrain.
 
Ashore, he served as the Advanced Shiphandling and Tactics (ASAT) course Lead at Surface Warfare Officers School in Newport RI  Fleet Training Department (N72) where he also helped develop the Basic Division Officer Course (BDOC) and instructed the Conning Officer Virtual Environment (COVE) trainer. Most recently, he served at Navy Personnel Command PERS-41 in Millington TN as the Surface Commander Command and Post-Department Head Detailer. He has completed two Masters Degrees in National Strategic Studies, and Maritime Homeland Security and Homeland Defense at the US Naval War College and completed JPME Phase 1.  
 
CDR Holloway’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (4 awards) and various unit awards.
