CMDCM (SW/EXW) Stephen M. Hand is a native of Colorado Springs, CO. Master Chief Hand enlisted in the Navy in June 2001 reported to boot camp, followed by Engineman “A” School in Great Lakes, IL.

At Sea, his tours include USS RUSHMORE (LSD 47), USS NEW ORLEANS (LPD 18), USS GERMANTOWN (LSD 42), USS DEFENDER (MCM 2), USS ASHLAND (LSD 48), Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center (FDRMC) Det Bahrain, USS EMORY S. LAND, USS NEW ORLEANS (LPD 18) and USS RUSHMORE (LSD 47). During his sea tours, he earned 5 Engineering Officer Of the Watch letters (EOOW) he completed 3 deployments to 5th Fleet and 5 Patrols in 7th fleet in support of IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM.

His shore assignments include Mobile Diving Salvage Unit 1 (MDSU 1), South West Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC).

Master Chief Hand is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Senior Enlisted Academy Class 19A (Flight 19) and the Recipient of the Carl Etchberger Award. He graduated the CMC/COB Class 23080.

CMDCM Hand’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (8), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6), and various unit and service awards.
