Commander Earvin M. Taylor is a native of Jackson, MS. He attended the United States Naval Academy where he majored in General Science and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in May 2007. He holds a master degree in Systems Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School.
At sea, Taylor served as the Electrical Officer in USS NASSAU (LHA 4), assistant to the N4 at Expeditionary Strike Group Two (ESG 2). While attached to ESG 2, he deployed as an IA to Forward Operating Base (FOB) Sharana, Afghanistan where he led a postal platoon. As a department head, he served as the Weapons Officer (WEPS) and Combat Systems Officer in USS MONTEREY (CG 61). His most recent tours were in USS PATRIOT (MCM 7) where he served as the executive officer, and then subsequently the commanding officer.
While ashore, he served as an instructor and the Prospective Commanding Officers Course Coordinator at Surface Warfare Schools Command.
His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal along with various unit awards.
