Command Senior Chief Petty Officer, Shane Ray Vandehey, a native of Lebanon, Oregon, comes from a military family, son of an Air force mechanic and grandson of a Navy retired YNCS, he began his military career in June of 2000 just after graduating high school, when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.

Upon completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois he reported to his first command aboard the USS Essex (LHD 2) where he was rated as a Machinists Mate obtaining the rank of Machinist Mate Second Class. After leaving the USS Essex he cross rated to Master-At-Arms and began his security career. His first command as a rated MAA he was assigned as a patrolman onboard NAS Lemoore, California. While stationed in Lemoore he completed a successful Individual Augmentee IA tour to Iraq. After Lemoore he transferred to Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron Seven where he served as a Mission Commander and was promoted to First Class Petty Officer. He then volunteered for and completed another successful IA, this time to Camp Lemonnier Djibouti, Africa. Following his second IA he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer onboard his next command, USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). He then made his way to the East Coast and completed a tour as a Senior Enlisted Advisor at Naval Support Activity Prospect Harbor. After his shore rotation he was assigned back to sea duty early at Coastal Riverine Squadron One where he was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer, after successfully completing that assignment he was assigned to Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam where he was selected to be a Command Senior Enlisted Leader.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards) as well as numerous individual awards and multiple unit and campaign awards. He's a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, and has a General Studies Associates Degree through Columbia College. He assumed the duties as Command Senior Chief onboard USS Pioneer (MCM 9) on April 8th 2023
