Command Master Chief Lee Skinner, a native of Muenster, Texas, enlisted in the United States Navy in October 2000. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he reported to Basic Enlisted Submarine School and Machinist Mate “A” School in New London, Connecticut.
Master Chief Skinner’s sea duty assignments include USS Columbia (SSN 771), USS Alabama (SSBN 731 BLUE), USS Greeneville (SSN 772), USS Cheyenne (SSN 773).
In May 2018 Master Chief Skinner reported to USS Bremerton (SSN 698) as Chief of the Boat (COB). In July 2018 he transferred to USS Pennsylvania (SSBN 735 BLUE) as COB. While onboard, the ship completed three strategic deterrent patrols and was awards three consecutive retention excellence awards.
His shore duty assignments include Instructor/Division Officer at Trident Training Facility Kings Bay, Damage Control Assistant at Submarine Squadron 7, and Command Master Chief at Regional Support Group Groton/Naval Submarine Support Facility New London.
Master Chief reported onboard and assumed the duties as Command Master Chief of USS O’Kane (DDG 77) in July 2023
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (Two Awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
