Command Master Chief Jenkins reported to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois in March of 1999 and began his naval career as a Gunner’s Mate. He was duly initiated as a Chief Petty Officer in 2006 and selected into the Command Senior Chief program in 2013.
Master Chief Jenkins’ early sea tours and deployments were in support of Operations NOBLE EAGLE and ENDURING FREEDOM. He performed duties as MK45 5”/54 Caliber Gun Mount Captain and Surface Search and Rescue (SAR) Swimmer in USS Spruance (DD 963), CG Division Leading Chief Petty Officer and SAR Swimmer in USS Elrod (FFG 55), and Small Arms / Demolition Range Division Leading Chief Petty Officer at Naval Special Warfare Development Group in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Ashore, Master Chief Jenkins has served as a SAR Swimmer and Water Survival Instructor at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois.
He has completed forward-deployed joint assignments for Naval Special Warfare in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM as a Joint Command Senior Enlisted Leader (JCSEL) and Deputy Chief of Operations for a Joint Special Operations Task Force in Afghanistan in 2011, and JCSEL for a Joint Special Operations Task Force in the Horn of Africa/Arabian Peninsula in 2013. He deployed in 2019 as JCSEL for Arctic Expeditionary Joint Logistics over the Shore (JLOTS) operations and again in 2020 as JCSEL of Commander, Maritime Preposition Force while deployed alongside the Army’s 7th Transportation Brigade-Expeditionary (7th TBX) for JLOTS operations in the CENTCOM area of responsibility.
In 2016 as Command Master Chief in USS Coronado (LCS 4), he completed the maiden overseas C7F deployment of the Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship. Additionally, he completed successful Command Master Chief tours and deployments in USS Paul Hamilton (DDG 60), Naval Beach Group ONE (NBG 1), and in USS Makin Island (LHD 8). The outstanding crew of Makin Island received numerous accolades resulting from a highly successful seven-month Amphibious Ready Group WESTPAC 22-23 deployment with embarked 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit. CMDCM Jenkins and his crew earned the 2023 Battle Efficiency Award, the 2023 Marjorie Sterrett Battleship Fund Award for being the Pacific Fleet’s most battle-ready ship, the Secretary of Defense Field-Level Maintenance Award, and were the overall Phoenix Award winners.
He assumed duties as Command Master Chief of Amphibious Squadron SEVEN in November 2023.
Master Chief Jenkins holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice (Homeland Security) from Excelsior University and a Master of Arts in Management (Organizational Leadership) from American Military University. He is a graduate of the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 169, Command Master Chief Course Class 124, Advanced Command Master Chief Course Class 24010, Command Senior Enlisted Leader Executive Leadership Symposium, Flag and Executive Leader Implementation (FELIX-21) Course, and National Defense University KEYSTONE Course Class 19-2.
The combat contributions of the teams with which Master Chief Jenkins has served have been recognized with three Presidential Unit Citations, three Joint Meritorious Unit Awards, and three Meritorious Unit Citations.
He is a Master Training Specialist and has earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Expeditionary Warfare Specialist, and Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist qualifications.
