CDR Andrea L. Benvenuto

Executive Officer, USS Hopper (DDG 70)

27 November 2023 A native of Rochester, NY, Commander Benvenuto graduated from the University of Rochester with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and earned a Navy commission through NROTC in 2007. She also graduated from Fordham University with a Master of Arts in Political Science in 2014 and the U.S. Naval War College with a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies in 2022.

Commander Benvenuto completed her division officer tours aboard USS GUNSTON HALL (LSD 44) as the Machinery Division Officer and MCMRON SEVEN as the Surface MCM Planning Officer. She completed her department head tours aboard USS O’KANE (DDG 77) as the Operations Officer and USS BAINBRIDGE (DDG 96) as the Combat Systems Officer. Ashore, Commander Benvenuto was assigned as the Senior Class Advisor at SUNY Maritime NROTC located in the Bronx, NY. She also served as a Maritime Warfare Instructor at Surface Warfare Officers School in Newport, RI.

Commander Benvenuto’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4) as well as unit and service awards.
