CDR Cam Massey is a native of Madison, MS and commissioned in July 2006 through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the University of Mississippi.
A surface warfare officer, CDR Massey has served in multiple operational billets in guided-missile destroyers. His division officer tours include “plankowner” gunnery officer in USS GRIDLEY (DDG 101) homeported in San Diego, CA and fire control officer in USS MUSTIN (DDG 89) forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan. Department head tours include weapons officer and combat systems officer in USS DONALD COOK (DDG 75) -- the first of four Arleigh Burke-class destroyers to homeport shift to Rota, Spain establishing Forward Deployed Naval Forces, Europe. He is currently serving as executive officer in USS RAFAEL PERALTA (DDG 115) forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan.
Ashore, CDR Massey most recently served as a Presidential Strike Advisor and Assistant Deputy Director for Operations in the National Joint Operations and Intelligence Center. Previous assignments include a defense fellowship in the United States House of Representatives, special assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV N00Z), readiness reform policy lead in the office of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV N5), analyst in the resources and assessments directorate (J8) at United States Central Command and an assistant professor at Auburn University.
CDR Massey has earned a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from the University of Mississippi, a Master of Public Administration degree from Auburn University and a Master of Arts degree from the U.S. Naval War College.
