CDR Martin Blomberg

Executive Officer, Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 1

08 December 2023 Originally from the Black Hills of South Dakota, CDR Marty Blomberg first enlisted in the United States Navy in1998 and served aboard the USS Princeton (CG 59) as an Electronics Technician from 1999-2002. After earning a Seaman to Admiral-21 Scholarship, he graduated with a degree in Marine Environmental Science from the State University of New York Maritime and commissioned in 2006.

He completed his first division officer tour as 1st LT aboard the USS Mobile Bay (CG 53) and then served a tour as Navigator of USS Milius (DDG 69).  He has served twice as an Operations Officer, first aboard the USS Gridley (DDG 101) and then on the USS Philippine Sea (CG 56).

While ashore, he earned a Master’s Degree in Combat Systems from the Physics Department at the Naval Postgraduate School. Additionally, served as an instructor at the AEGIS Training and Readiness Center on the Sixth Fleet staff as a future operations planner and on the staff at the Surface Mine Warfare Development Center.

He then served as the plankowner Executive Officer on the USS Miguel Keith (ESB 5) Blue Crew, Executive Officer on the USS Germantown (LSD 42) and is currently the Executive Officer of Assault Craft Unit One. 

CDR Blomberg’s personal awards include three Meritorious Service Medals, three Navy Commendation Medals, and five Navy Achievement Medals as well as various other unit level awards.
