A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Commander Boston was commissioned through the Naval ROTC Program at Marquette University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History in 2007. He graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School earning a Master of Business Administration in Financial Management, as well as completing the Naval War College Non-resident Program for Joint Professional Military Education Phase I in 2013. In 2014, he graduated from the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Warfare Tactics Instructor program in Dahlgren, VA.

During his sea duty assignments, he completed his division officer tours aboard USS CARR (FFG 52) and USS FITZGERALD (DDG 62) as the Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer and Fire Control Officer respectively. He also served as the Weapons and Combat Systems Officer aboard USS PAUL HAMILTON (DDG 60).  

Ashore, Commander Boston served as a Flag Aide to the Commander, Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center in Fallon, NV. He served as Surface Warfare Advance Tactical Training (SWATT) Planner and Performance Analysis Cell Director at Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Command Headquarters. He served as the Link 16 and Undersea Assured Command & Control (UAC2) communications systems Assistant Program Manager at the Undersea Communications and Integration Program Office (PMW 770) at Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (PEO C4I). Additionally, he served as the Development, Innovation, and Experimentation Director at Surface Development Squadron One.

Commander Boston’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with three Gold Stars), and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with two Gold Stars) as well as multiple unit and service awards.
