A native of Duncan, Oklahoma, CDR Andrew Stafford graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.
Afloat, CDR Stafford served on USS CURTIS WILBUR (DDG 54) as the Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer. While onboard, he conducted multiple ballistic missile defense and anti-submarine efforts to help earn the Battle E and the Pacific Fleet Bloodhound Award.
As a Division Officer, he served as the Fire Control Officer onboard USS JOHN S. MCCAIN (DDG 56) and the Electrical Officer onboard USS INGRAHAM (FFG 61).
Ashore, most recently, CDR Stafford served as the Senior Military Advisor to the State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor.
CDR Stafford’s other shore assignments include serving as the DDG 1000 Requirements Officer on the OPNAV Staff and the Fifth Fleet BMD Operations Officer. He also completed a master’s degree in Eurasian Security at the Naval Postgraduate School.
