Cmdr. Sam A. Moffett, a native of League City, Texas, graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. He holds a Masters of Arts in National Security Affairs from the Naval Postgraduate School.
At sea, Cmdr. Moffett’s served as Main Propulsion Division Officer onboard USS Wasp (LHD 1), Fire Control Officer onboard USS McFaul (DDG 74), Operations Officer onboard USS Higgins (DDG 76), Current Operations Officer in Destroyer Squadron TWO, Executive Officer and Commanding Officer onboard USS Ardent (MCM 12), and Executive Officer onboard USS Tulsa (LCS 16) Gold Crew.
Ashore, he was a Senior Officer Ship’s Material Readiness Course instructor at Surface Warfare Officers School, and Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff for Warfighting Assessments and Readiness, as well as the Government Program Manager at Naval Surface Forces, U.S. Pacific Fleet.
Cmdr. Moffett is currently the Commanding Officer of USS Tulsa (LCS 16) Gold Crew.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (one award), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), the Navy Achievement Medal (three awards), and various unit, campaign, and service medals and ribbons.
